Icons add visual clarity and professional charm to your letter templates. AutoLetter gives you access to 7 extensive icon collections with thousands of icons -- from minimalist to detailed, for every style and use case.

Open the icon tool

Click on the Icon symbol in the toolbar. The icon library opens as a panel.

Choose a collection or search

You have two options:

Filter by collection: Select one of the 7 collections from the dropdown list to see only its icons.
Cross-collection search: Enter a search term (e.g., "mail", "phone", "star"). The search scans all 7 collections simultaneously and shows matching results from all sources.

Select an icon

Click on the desired icon. It will be inserted on the active page at a default size.

Customize

The cross-collection search is especially useful when you are looking for a specific motif (e.g., "envelope" for mail icons). You can immediately see which variants are available across the different collections and choose the style that best suits your design.

Each inserted icon can be individually customized:

Icon color: Choose any color for the icon. Use the color presets or enter a HEX value.
The color applies to the entire icon (single color). Multi-colored icons are not possible.

Change the icon size by dragging the handles or by entering exact values in the properties panel (in mm).
Icons scale proportionally to maintain their proportions.

Position: Exact placement via X and Y coordinates in mm.
Rotation: Rotate the icon at any angle.
Opacity: Adjust the transparency (0-100%).

Icons are versatile in your letter templates:

Contact information: Phone, email, and address icons next to your contact details
Bullet lists: Icons instead of bullet points for visually appealing lists
Feature highlights: Emphasize product benefits with matching icons
Social media: Social media icons for your channels in the footer
Categories: Icons as visual markers for different sections
Call-to-action: Arrow or hand icons pointing to important elements

Icons are inserted as vector graphics and therefore scale without loss at any size. You do not need to worry about print quality -- no matter how large or small you use an icon, it always remains sharp.

Consistent style: Use icons from one collection within a template. This ensures a uniform appearance, since each collection has its own design style.
Don't overload: Use icons strategically. Too many different icons create visual clutter and distract from the content.
Adjust size: For inline use next to text, small icons (4-6 mm) are recommended. For decorative purposes or feature highlights, icons can be larger (10-20 mm).
Match colors: Use the same color for icons as for headings or accents in your template.
